So these results are after your initial (safe) tune. Do you think you can get close to stock turbo power and torque figures low down with these larger turbos or would other complimentary tuning parts like cams be necessary to offset some of the drop off through using larger turbos.

I suppose there is always some compromise, stock turbos are breathless at the top end and drop off, larger turbos dont spool up as quick low down.

Car looks mega quick though.

Just a word of advice, its not good to be pushing the engines at high boost low revs, rods can say good bye, you are better off shifting to a lower a gear and going hard.

It would be interesting to have more information about these units.

From pictures they appear to be IHI units, with modified compressor wheel and possibly housing ?

Would particularly like to know if the turbo bearing has been changed from journal bearing to roller as in Garrett GT series.

Unfortunately the switzer web site that Ryan kindly linked to is very short on information about their products.
As regards the power being down below 4200rpm, well its Ryan's car and ultimately his choice of engine characteristics.

I will make only two points:

1) It wouldn't be my choice for a street application to have such bias towards top end power - useful for track applications, but for street use bottom end and mid range power characteristics are I would suggest much more important.

2) Car manufacturers have for a number of years been aiming for 'flat torque curves'. I am not entirely convinced of the merits of this approach, however each to their own

Don't want to be seen to be trying to teach grandmothers, or anyone else for that matter to suck eggs, however a quite interesting series of guides to turbochargers and their applications have been produced by Garrett:

Very basic introduction to turbochargers

Advanced guide

Ryan,

I have two questions:

1) Other then the spec you have posted up, is everything else on the car OEM?
2) Is there any advantage (for the average Joe) to run a Syvecs over the simpler setups such as ECUtek, COBB, or Uprev at this level of modification?

Please don't mention up rev in the same sentence as Cobb and ecutek, never mind syvecs!

The guy that designed COBB went onto build Uprev I'm told.

Can you elaborate on your reservations for the uprev solution?

You need to see the interface to understand.

I think there's a reason why it hasn't been as successful as the cobb or ecutek, but none of this is what you were asking about.

For that you really need to hear from Ryan not me!

Apologies Ryan for continuing on the tangent, but the UpRev deserves a more informative reply.

For the R35 it doesn't have full boost control, has no ability to flash TCM and can be overwritten by a dealer.
The ECUTEK and Cobb are a world away in terms of functionality and features (remote tuning, logging, etc.) and the high end Syvecs is yet another step up.

UpRev was a great solution on the Z though.

Finally, great results from your tweaks Ryan, keep the information coming!
