Chalmondeleye? Silverstone Classic? Bromley? Ace Cafe last week? Modified Live? Planes...@Goodwood? etc. There are a lot of other events out there but they seem not to attract the same level of interest and discussion that some of the other events do. Reality is the vast majority (members and non members) never attend any event no matter what it is or where it is.

Mook,
It seems that even you are not in touch with what is offered on the forum for all members of the Skyline community. We as a team are offering a diverse range of events for our members to enjoy, just read the events & meetings thread before making comment. It seems that other people are making comment that there is nothing for them outside of the prestige events. I have had to resort against other members advice to promoting events across the GTR and 32,33,& 34 threads to attract attention and even that has had little response. You tell me how we are to highlight the events to our membership and get them involved. This is a Club run by members volunteering their time for others for no financial gain but Club members have to respond by involving themselves in supporting events. If you are in Club you have to get involved at a level you feel comfortable with but to do nothing is apathetic at best. A lot of people work hard at providing interesting meetings for the members with dismal response. Only the members can advise what they are looking for from their club and should be doing so through the medium of the website and joining in.

As I say. IMHO
Like I say, it doesn't concern me but if I can help through the forum I will. A suggestion box is a good idea?

And Mook, I still think the suggestion box is a good idea. As i deal with mainly motorsport stuff and some heritage events it's hard for me to comment on the other events but i do know the guys spend a hell of a lot of time organising them so that they are just right for the members. I did make a post about giving some support for the GT3 guys. They are doing extremely well at the moment and they are busting to get us involved with what they are doing...even to the extent of letting us share a testing day with them and have some track time with their drivers, in their cars AND ours. And i double posted about it...... not one response yet. ![]() I enjoyed the old days of show and shines at various events, and believe it or not, sometimes sitting down at a table with some like minded people having some lunch on a sunny afternoon, makes a static meet just a little more bearable and a great opportunity to make some good friends. I have made many in this club doing just that. We have some other ideas in the wings, like professional photoshoots, maybe some ten pin bowling and plenty more besides. Organising it between our day jobs is a mammoth task...and yes i have a nearly 4 month old son and a partner that isn't really into cars but she was happy to venture along to the pub meets and let the kids wear themselves out a bit. ![]()

I just want GTROC to be great again, because if there were a league we would be atthe bottom. And with some of the cars we have on here, we should be great

The thing is mook has put his opinion in there and people have come back trying to correct him.
He put an opinion in. I'm sure mook will be the first to say that it could be wrong but it must have came from somewhere???! In fact I think we could all thank him and who ever else for standing up and saying something. The problem is clear to me- advertising what we as a club do. Let's start with a clearer events calender to make it easier for people to see whats going on? Maybe even having a few regional ones and a national one?

On the flip side of things, we also need to appreciate that the GTROC is a Club.
That means that whilst Mook is doing a splendid job of hosting the forum and creating just the right categories to see everything as clear as possible, we are also working our buts off to promote a 'Club' in its own right on the org site. yes , we are all aware of the ins and outs and ups and downs of the GTROc Club and register history, but at the end of the day both sites are purely for the enjoyment of all members so that they can keep up with the latest news, and if they feel so inclined, nothing wrong with starting topics on here that they have read about on the org site...that's what it's all about, however, it would be nice sometimes to see poeple's comments on some of the news items and bloggs that people work so hard to write about.

Should I create a subforum in the members section for suggestions?

(Apologise I'm very tired typing this so please forgive it if it doesn't make sense in places!) Agreed and as someone said earlier the ones discussing this very thread are the ones that generally get involved. We have an event coming at Brands Hatch at the start of July and to be honest if people want to get involved then this is the perfect opportunity as its cheap and a great event with a full day of track action and I have guaranteed us the best club stand position overlooking the start and finish line! Plus its open to forum users as well as members. In regards to MOOK's comment I don't organise the corporate events, I never have. That's someone else's department within the GTROC though I may post the event on their behalf. I have always arranged and sorted out events that are for "EVERYONE" (barr motorsport at the Palace this year for the very first time) that can be easily afforded compared to the other events. However despite my unique, clear and informative posts on the events people still don't bother! Hell, I'm going in circles typing this as I've said this already and we really are going to go round the houses on this discussion, I can see it from here. At the end of the day I am happy to arrange or pass onto a rep an event that people suggest that looks good for the club to be there. But look at the charity event at GOODWOOD recently that was initially posted by one of the organisers. Myself and the local rep got involved, revamped the listing, put all the information up and how many went ... two or maybe none !?!!! It got to the stage where I closed the thread and just directed people to the organiser due to the lack of interest! The earlier comment someone posted about a lot of events in a short space of time and trying to balance family life. Unfortunately its not called the show season for nothing as come late September, early October with the onset of winter events stop as attendance gets low! Plus many people store their cars over this time till April. I have planned events in the past out of show season, over Christmas etc. etc. etc. Hell just look at the AGM ... apart from a certain hardcore or the regulars we get very few 'members' coming along to a superb weekend! MOOK - historically the events section has always been where it is and set out how it is. If people can't be arsed to go outside of General Nissan Skyline Chat for example then its like only going to flower section of a large supermarket! Next people will want cars advertised in there as well as group buys etc. instead of the for sale section ![]() I really don't see the need to post events in other sections as if you look on any car forum there is always an event section!? If people really are that sad then maybe a sticky with a link to the events sections but really ... !?!?! Fuggles is bang on though, there are events all over. If however I need to start focusing our Reps to do pub meets again then so be it, hell I'll even arrange one myself for this coming Sunday for London, the South East and the South if people want! (this was typed after quite a few posts above!)

We use to but it got ignored or people forgot to update it! It also wasn't the nicest bit of software for making it easy as if you made a mistake once you posted an event it couldn't be remove
![]() I intend to post events up a lot earlier next year and as much as "some" people hate it as a sticky so it can be clearly seem as soon as someone goes into the events section. That way people can plan EARLY!
