Hi enshui. Yes, I was thinking about changing the main beam / high beam for a 100w and whiter bulb. The standard main beam is quite yellow compared to the dip. I originally started looking after buying bulbs ready for a drive through France and then realised that even if I had spare bulbs, I probably coundn't change them by the roadside anyway!! Surely there must be access from inside the wheelarch or some other way rather than taking the whole bumbper off!!

You need to take the wheel arch off and those high beams are H9 bulbs which are hard to obtain even at a petrol station.

Is 100w safe for the wiring?? I guess stay with OEM.

Got the bulbs off ebay. Got the super white which are a better colour. Have swapped from 55w to 100 watt on every car I've ever had and the only issue is occasionally the fuse. Everything else always seems up to the job.

Why do you need 100w on high beam? Is there any safety concerns?

Why does anyone need more of anything, when what they have is considered by most to be enough? Cobb Stage 2 for instance?
Answer.. cos more is often perceived as better and who am i to argue.

Stick with dull yellow or go bright white? I would go Bi-Xenon if I could be arsed, I love to blast at night when the roads are quite but like to see where I'm going!

A safety issue? You mean 550 bhp or 100 watts?

More the issue of putting 100w on those wiring. Since you can't upgrade the fuse due fire safety I would stay with 55w. I am going to ask the US forum just in case.

Are the standard xenon bulbs 6000k or 4800k?

If its 4800k does anyone know what type bulb they are as id prefer the 6000k.

Just to let you know, if you don't already, Some of these Ebay bulbs only last 2 - 3 months cheapo ones and also had them in the past where car would fail an MOT. so keep the set of spare for that just a tips up

Philips 6000K D2S does the job. No cheap lights on mine.

I wouldn't replace those high beams unless you want a melted headlamp which most US guys already have.
