RB28 = Instant gain in torque?

To clear thing first about the rb30 wars. I DON'T WANT A RB30. I have a dilemma.. I'm wondering if a RB28 means instant gain in HP and torque or does it depends on trbos selction and camshaft also?

1) A friend of mine bought his gtr with a RB28 inside ( we don,t know how long it has been there and nor do we know the exact kit). He want to sell the car and I'm tempting to buy it to take the motor.

On the other hand (2). I built a RB26 4000km ago with 86.5 piston/rod,and all the machining needed for the block + the crank polished and fitted the oil collar. So I know it's fresh and working properly.

I have GT-SS and Type-B poncam. Should I bother with the RB28 or the gain will be minimal, at best, with thhe unknown RB28 ?

Thanks for your input.

Any gain in stroke is a good thing with these things. I don't understand why someone would build a 2.6. "Strokers don't rev" and all that crap is a load of rubbish.
You will notice it. The bigger the better!
On a 2.8, go the next size up in turbo's. -5's or 2530's.

Well I did build the 2.6 because I was looking at doing an oem refresh and when we took measure the cylinder was 86.30mm so we decide to bore to 86.5mm and then I bought new piston/rod and yada yada.

Would I have the same response with -5 /rb28 than on my rb26/gtss ? ( Any gtr driver who get in my car can't believe how responsive the GT-SS are And I love it that way)

Might as well go VCAM at the same time while your throwing cash at the car for even more down low

Just make sure it is actually a 77.7mm crank. I've seen people advertise 2.8s with factory stroke and 88mm pistons.

Like I said, I'm buying a car with a built engine, so obviously I'm not paying retail price. Or you can see it like I'm too poor to buy a stroker kit at retail price so I'M not going to pay 4000$ ( if not more lol) for some camshaft

My friend told me to remove the sparkplug, and mesure the distance between while doing a full rotation of the engine and make sure it's 77.7mm
