Anyone tried alloy gators?

Just thought, since our rims are so hard to colour match, these might be worth a try.

Not researched them much, other than being taken in by their promo vid.

I spoke to one of the workers there last year (come to think of it, could have just been the cleaner as he was walking past the phone!) Needless to say the chap, who ever it was, didn't inspire me with much confidence!

I think they seam like a fantastic idea, however my main concern is, what happens if one should come off at speed?! They could only confirm that a new set has only been tested on UK roads, and seamed ok!
Well over here, it's not uncommon to travel at twice the UK speed limit for extended periods.
And I guess you would need to consider age, any subsequent kerbing damage possibly dislodging them from the bead and also temperature variations from -30 too +30 degrees!
Not to mention the tyre deformation during high speed cornering on a car like a GTR, the Alloys don't have a special Knurling just for fun!!

Now if they could some how demonstrate a worst case scenario were the thing came away cleanly, out to the side, and only smashed the guys windscreen traveling several hundred meters behind you! And did not strip the paint off your own wheel arch as it flails around like a garden strimmer!!... Then I might reconsider!

I tried them on my Q7 and while they looked ok it took so long to get them to sit behind the bead it was a PITA. One came loose after about two weeks and hit the rear door and wing and left about 80 melted plastic strokes that came off after a good rub and polish. There was no damage but if that had of happened on my black GTR I think it would of needed a re-spray hence I took them off the Audi and binned them.I dont think they work on cars with a lot of power or weight.
