Following year, I did it again. Then, my mother passed and having lost my father many years earlier, I chose October as my fasting month where I would detox and use as a time of contemplation.
I have to allow myself water during the day though as I am not good with headaches.
Have the same problem.

A couple of years ago, Coming to the end of the first fast, l felt a tightening around the throut, as if someone was trying to strangle me! Also headaches.

Learnt to drink plenty of water the night before, no probs to date.

Just a note, some Muslims have mixed there cultural beliefs in opening there fast with a feast. This is wrong and missing the point.

The bare minimum of food and drink should be consumed for the process to be of benefit.

@nozza1

What's youR view on the "all you can eat" pizza hut thing?

Apparently they used to do a Ramazan offer and people went a bit nuts coming off fast. When not fasting are you supposed to still eat as little as is nessecary?

Mook

No, the holy book specifically says you must pig out when not fasting.

Hey all,

My neighbours about 2-3 weeks ago brought us a HUGE meal (jesus it was HOT) and i'm assuming it's something to do with Ramadan?

I would just like to know if there was anything I could/should do at the end of Ramadan afterwards maybe cook him something or buy him something etc. ? I've never really experienced this before.

From what I understand Mook and as nozza1 rightly notes, there should be no excess in the food that is consumed when breaking the fast. The stomach does contract over the course of the 30 days so for the most part it is a case of your eyes being bigger than your stomach.

For Iftar (when breaking fast at sunset) I have a very light meal as there are prayers to be performed afterwards. If I were to eat a lot of food, I would feel uncomfortable and bloated and would not be able to perform the evening prayers.

So no excesses really but exercising moderation is important.

And Liam, I am sure you thanked your neighbours so that on it's own is more than sufficient. If you wanted to cook them a little something, then you can do!

Or you could buy yourself and your neighbours a few sweets! Like Rasgulla and Gulabjam! Yummy..

Pizza Hut ditching all-you-can-eat Ramadan offer to prevent 'unrestrained gluttony' in Pakistan

Thank god Pizza hut didn't set up in any of the villages. They'd have trampled the venue to the ground fighting over the bruschetta
free food is worst maketing strategy in India or Pakistan

And if you are really committed.

Then you can fast for another 6 days after eid, which I think I'm going to try for good measure
A close friend of mine has been fasting twice a week Mondays and Thursdays for the last 7/8 years and is fit as a fiddle.
On the subject of small meals I've just evening broke my fast 2 dates and a bowel of fruit( melons, peaches, mangoes, bananas etc) and feel full and come 3 AM in the to before I start the fast bowl of oats and scramble on toast and I'm bursting and I'm nearly 16st. In the last 21 days I've reduced my food intake by shocking amount by my standards and I feel incredibly dettoxed
Looking forward to a Unified Eid celebration brothers.
