What cams for proper lumpy idle

Does anyone have any idea what the mildest cams are to achieve a proper lumpy idle is? Can poncam Bs do it? Can adjustable cam wheels be tweeked to give this with the poncams?

Cheers

You can get a lumpy idle by retarding the timing and adding too much fuel.

Do you mean in the mapping so it doesn't affect the rest of the rpm range?

Cheers

Car will eventually have 600bhp@fly at the most and the cams will be changed. I want it to have an angry idle, can't get enough of it! Don't want to get something like type b poncams if this sort of idle can't be dialled in

Get some mental cams for it. You can adjust the fuelling on idle to give it a lumpy idle.

just fit the cams you need for the required power level, but lumpy cams dont mean sh1t. my friend chaz on here runs 800bhp in his R33 and even at that sort of power his idle is only slighty lumpy

Its easy enough to "tune" a lumpy idle in with stock/stockish cams just as we managed to get our RB30 drag engine with what most would call big cams to idle like a kitten at 900rpm just before we layed a 6 with it, the poor V8 boys were scratching their heads big time I tell ya hearing a stock sounding street motor then seeing it run quicker than alot of them do with alot of fuss and noise.

Mind you, the V8s when running right do sound nice.

Great cheers. I do love the sound of a big v8 idle, in fact I seen a few vids where the Gibson gtrs sound like that. Almost half v8 half rotary - if one can imagine such a thing!

I can understand where your coming from. I've had my engine rebuilt with new cams and its not been mapped yet and the idle is lumpy. Dare I say it but I quite like it

We did a drift engine a while back with totally stock cams and stock cam gears so we couldn't even play with cam timing but through tuning we could get it sitting at idle like it was one angry piece of kit and almost about to jump out of the engine bay, the owner loved it that way and would let it idle just so people would ask about the cams etc and people simply would not believe it had stock cams it was that agressive sounding.
