Ferrari 360, V8 Vantage Before GTR?

Though I would get your thoughts on this

I would like to own a GTR at some point.
Within the next year I'd like to pick up a new car. The car will be a weekend car more than an everyday car. I have a car for the day to day and may even get a diesel for the mile munching!

I have always wanted to own an exotic(ish) car maybe a Ferrari 360 and even try an Aston V8 Vantage.

I know these cars won't compare to the GTR in terms of performance and nothing else I could imagine affording in the next few things would...

My question is do you think it would be best to get the Ferrari / Aston thing out of my system because once in the GTR it will be hard to settle for something with a lot less performance. Whilst if I have not got used to the GTR levels of performance the Ferrari/ Aston will still be interesting...

I was also thinking over the next couple of years the 360 or even vantage is likely to hold its value slightly better (as they are lower on their depreciation curve) and then try a GTR out in 2/3 years.

I am coming from a C32 Amg in terms of performance
I know its not all about performance but just would be interested to hear your input.

You are right about the Aston V8 and 360 holding their prices. Infact, now it probably the best time to buy. There are a few cheap examples out there but I would recommend looking for one with the correct colour

If you can afford running a 360 or AV8 for a year or two I would recommend to go for it.

Thans for the input. Prices seem great at the moment. Running costs seem comparable to the GTR from my research £2-3K plus insurance/fuel etc

Depends if you are lucky to live near a good indy though... else you would need to stomach main dealer prices

If anything goes wrong with the Fezza it will be very expensive to fix due to age and parts but the thing is with these cars they are mostly well looked after

There is an indie just 15 mins from us which is good. I would definitely not be accepting main dealer prices.

I think best to get these cars out of your system first as you say they are not in the same league performance wise and will be harder to do it the other way round. Also if you mod Gtr will be even wider gap !

I tried an Aston V8 after my stage 4 MY10 GTR and it was a real let down.

I'd test drive them all and then buy the GTR.

If you are concerned about residual values just don't get a new one, aim for one or two years old.

I think most cars under £80k would be a disappointment after a stage 4 GTR though?

I think you'll be dissapointed with the V8 Vantage - perhaps the V12 Vantage instead ?

Probably, which explains why I upgraded to a MY11 GTR four days after I was daft enough to sell the MY10.

You only live once, I'm glad I went from a warm hatch to a GTR. It means I'm driving the best car I could afford right now!

i had a 360 before the GTR, the prices are fixed as I sold mine for what I paid. They wont go down much if they do. (as long as its red/cream desireable etc)

oh the 360 is cheaper to insure, cheaper to service and cheaper on parts the the GTR, CRAZY EH!

the GTR does whip it though...

How does the excitement/feeling you get when you drive it compare?
Although the 360 is slower would that bother you if you had the 360 or is it a great package even if it isn't that fast...

Cheaper all round sounds good

Thanks for the info! Were people ok with you? Did the car ever get vandalised?
