997 turbo remap, who to chose?

Hi guys.

Thought i would post on here as it seems a lot of forum members have experience with 997's and have either owned one in the past or know people who do own a tuned one.

My uncle is keen on getting his 997 turbo remaped. After seeing the effect of tuning on the gtr I think he is getting the bug and wants to do a few mods to his porker. Trouble is that there are a huge range of prices for remaps on the porsche and knowing which one is worth it is tough especially when searching the 911UK forum is so tedious.

Any reccomendations/advice?

H

I'm in a similar position trying to find a decent buying guide for the same car.

So far I have discovered the turbos are a weak point and can cost upto £7k to sort, hence warranty is a must.

Much like the GTR there are plenty horror stories.

Tabz i would not bother with a 997 gen 1 turbo esp as you had a gtr..defo a backwards step which would not make sense..that comes form experience btw

Gen 2 PDK is a different matter of course

Isn't the difference just the gearbox? Engines otherwise identical? ECU remaps claim a 10-15% power increase pretty easy... such as:

Porsche Ecu Remapping by Custom Tuning

Wonder how trustworthy that firm is...?

Splking would you know of any good 997 turbo related forums?

S14- Pdk is ridiculous money. More to the point out of my range.

I have a daily commuter, hence only after a weekend toy.

Open to all options really.

My wish list would be:
997 turbo
R8
Bentley
Aston Martin
Or something 4x4 RRsport, X5,Q7
