I thought Banzai Mag was supposed to be british based ???

Got the latest edition through the post today ....

Of all the feature cars ONE is a UK car, the rest are all foreign. The only other UK based article is on CPL fitting a Jackson Supercharger to a Civic Type R.

There are LOADS of top cars in this country .... so why do they feel the need to go abroad for all of their features ?

I think it's cr@p to be honest.....

Because its probably all freelance stuff they just paid to use.

Theres another forum im on where they expressed interest in covering a RR day, but they have now asked for someone to write the article for them and to be provided with photos lol

It's cheaper for these eds to use 'bought in' content rather than use there own snappers and writers. Sign of the times and they may well be having cut-backs.

Not Banzai but............

GTROC: We're doing a rolling road day and thought you'd like to cover it?
MAG: Sorry, not interested in Dyno days unless there is something really exceptional. But we're interested in track days. Thanks anyway.

............. a few weeks/months pass...........

GTROC: We're doing a track day at Spa Francorchamps and thought you might like to come along. You can go with our fleet of cars so all it will cost you is hotel fees.
MAG: Sorry, would cost too much, but thanks.

............. a few weeks pass...........

GTROC: We've had a rethink. What about we write something and send you all the pictures and you edit it?
MAG: Sorry, we're only interested in UK track days.

............. a few weeks pass...........

GTROC: We're doing a UK track day and thought you would be interested.
MAG: We'd love to but not sure the light would be good enough for photographs. Thanks anyway.

............. a few weeks pass...........

GTROC: Sorry you missed it. We had a lot of cars there and a current F1 driver on track as well.
MAG: Why didn't you tell us?
Hmmmm, I guess F1 drivers rweally can make the sun shine

............. a few weeks/months pass...........

GTROC: We're doing a track day soon. Can't guarantee any F1 drivers but we'll be happy to have you along.
MAG: Sorry we don't do track days, but thanks anyway.

John, I guess we must put it down to those awful colours you are using. Try pastel shades, I believe green is an "in" one with the adolescents these days..............

Glen
Fully appreciate that Glen ... but Jap Performance mag don't seem to be having any troubles. They are a small outfit and have freelance writers (i even wrote an article for them and supplied the pictures).

I just think if you are a British based mag then concentrate on the UK scene. Fair enough - every now and then do something from abroad ... or, if you have 1 or 2 special cars from abroad then put them over a couple of editions ... but surely they should concentrate on their main audience ?

If they did concentrate on UK cars then maybe they'd have a higher number of readers too ?

Just my thoughts.

I know what you mean Daz, a lot of the cars do seem to be from the USA. Everytime I've read the magazine, most of the cars are from the USA. However, as Glen said, it is easier and cheaper. Also, as said, the articles are written by freelancers who may be based in the USA.

I share the same perception as SteveN - I'm not bothered if the car is from the USA, but with the large rice culture over there, most of the cars are of the rice type, and not performance-orientated. Having said that, that's not always the case.

ROFL @ Fuggle's post.

Cars which have been modified for more show/pose factor than go/performance.
