Thanks for posting this up. Unfortunately, since the noise limits were reduced, most if not all modded GTRs would be black flagged within seconds of getting out on track which is a great shame as I personally love the GT circuit there....

Reckon you'd probably need to bribe Jonathon Palmer and the 2 local residents who complain about the noise....

Peter,

This is a topic that has plagued me for ages. My TVR cerbera would never pass any track day noise tests but I was hoping my GTR would. I guess not .

It is a very similar spec to yours, so the question is what tracks is it eligible for from a noise point of view? Do you know anywhere that performs noise level checks so I would know which tracks to go to?

Cheers

Rob.

Rob,

You need to choose circuits which don't noise test as a matter of course which tends to be the ones that might publish noise levels but don't tend to have a problem with neighbours who complain.

Those that I know aren't a problem are Brands and Silverstone. Oulton Park I think are OK, not sure about Donnington (anybody know?). Spa and the Ring are OK too. Some of the airfield venues aren't too noise sensitive although some are.

Whilst noise testing will give you an idea, you'll find that meters can be calibrated differently which may lead to disappointment so if possible, it's always best to get your car chaecked at the actual circuit...

Never driven at Oulton Park but they seem to quote 105/106 on most of their days. Donington seems to vary - not sure if this is due to different types of day or just the organisers restricting the type of car that turns up

I think Fuggles has been to Donington so it must be alright

Ken.

Peter, I've been noise tested at Brands, not with a Skyline tho'. 750 2 stroke running race chambers (wot noise?). Year 1, 103dB, failed GP circuit, OK for Indy (which is higher allowance), Year 2 they didn't ask for a test so I didn't volunteer!
