Is this HKS turbo manifold any good?? (picture)

I'm trying to find a top mount manifold with a T4 flange for my RB25DET, but I've been unsuccessful so far.

I found this HKS manifold with an external wastegate and the T4 flange, but I don't know if it's any good or not. Any oppinions? I really don't want to go with a stock turbo location, but if this will work, I may have to. Power before beauty in the engine compartment!

Any alternative solutions?

Thanks...

Well you have one big advantage of it being cast (by the looks of things) so it wont crack like the other tat they produce..

However, I would be concerned over the massive differences in the primary lengths, my (although somewhat limited) knowledge from getting a custom made manifold for my Evo lead me to believe they should be all pretty much the same length but 'tuned' specifically for various spec dependant factors. Any off the shelf manifold would be a compromise to a certain degree.

Why not consider a custom made option?

Looks good to me, agree that you're better off with cast if you aren't wanting to Mig it every other weekend. A custom made one would be made up of stainless, which no matter how well made it is, will always be at risk of cracking problems once it has some mileage on it. Also I can imagine a 6 cyl custom one wouldn't be cheap.

Agree to an extent on the length of the primaries. However the ones pictured don't look 'that' bad IMO, it's only the one cylinder that has really a longer length. The beautifully designed equal length custom ones may look very pretty, but on a turbo car you want a short a primary as possible to maintain good port velocity. I'm sure HKS would have taken all this into account when making the manifold

Cheers,
Jon

Pretty much the general concensus I've been getting about the cast manifold. I have considered a custom made one, but they're about 4-5 times the cost. I'm throwing enough cash around as it is with all the performance parts I've been buying in the last couple weeks.

I, like Jon, figured that HKS, being a reputable name, would have taken into account all the primary length issues and fitment. I think I might just take my chances here and pick one up. My biggest complaint about this manifold is that it isn't "TOP MOUNT", I want my turbo up top showing off. But this one is available now and priced right. The quicker I get my parts, the quicker I can go quicker!

Thanks for the input guys...

I think the amount of flak they've had over their stainless manifolds over the years is probably a primary reason they've started doing cast ones

Thats on old HKS manifold, the ones they used to use for T4R conversions etc.

Id expect its good for well over 600bhp and dont crack
