I stand corrected, yes they can be used. There seems to be an issue with the rb26 being a solid, and the rb20 being a hydro.
I'll let someone with a little experiance answer this one. You can run a mech cam with hydro lifters, but not the other way around. But, if the lifters can be changed with the cam, you would be golden. Last edited by SkylineUSA; 24th February 2005 at 06:18 PM. |

Arrrgh.....
This thread on SAU says that the RB26 cams are a straight swap into the RB20, with some minimalist gains. The RB20 doesn't have the VTC that the RB25 has, and I'm mixing them all up.....

That's what I was trying to say, there is no pressure oil feed in a'26 to make the hydraulic lash adjusters work. The RB20 cams (unless specials) are ground to suit hydraulic lifters, not solids which have different ramp profiles. You can use Hydraulic lifters under solid cams, but not vice versa.
Jason, I think if you laser drill an oilway in the nose of a GT-R cam, you could probably use the vvt - not 100% on it tho? |
