Sorry fellas for the lack of progress reports on this.

I've been busy getting parts together for the "big one" and I hope the following provides enough material for you to shoot me down in flames for my choices!!

Since the last update I've added the following:

Nismo cluster cover
Nismo gearknob and surround

Knight Racer rear valance (Super Race Dry Carbon)

JCR side skirts

Now comes the parts list for the engine build. The car is in having the engine removed this week and I've acquired the following over the last few months..

- The Turbo Engineers TTE7XX stock housing turbos - chosen for around 750-800 bhp with stock response (supposedly...)
- Tomei Poncams - chosen as very similar to Mine's with a mild increase in in/ex and lift whilst keeping stock valvetrain.
- Agency Power hard piping in black - chosen as nice matt finish!
- Tiall QR BOV - keeping MAF tuning (see below) and these look great.
- Litchfield Superstock IC - need a stock height IC as have my front mounted trans cooler and Litcho's should be a worthy winner here
- Mishimoto uprated radiator
- Cast downpipes
- Larger turbo inlets
- ID 1000cc injectors
- Greddy fuel rail
- Asnu 340lph pumps
- Ported stock manifold and header tank (crinkle black)
- Gotboost SD kit - gonna hybrid with MAF at low loads, SD when required.
- CP/Carrillo rods/pistons
- AMS coolant tank - because it's lovely!

My pal at Riverside Racing is doing the engine build, hoping to have it back in 3-4weeks hopefully. I'm in no rush but really ****ing excited!

I ordered from the eBay seller listed on this thread. Fairly cheap and fit perfectly.

Can somebody help with this wheels/spacers question

Never thought I'd do spacers but when I fitted my new rear balance the wheels looked lost. Really like the look now although the steering felt different.

Yep thems the fellas!

Couldn't resist for the price and they're brand new with as new manifolds (one of mine is cracked).

They'd have to be pretty hopeless to not make 750-800 HP on pump gas with a stock like curve. Also hoping the Poncams will help with getting the boost on a little earlier. Nobody's run these turbos with these cams but they are rated highly for lower end upgraded turbos so it shouldn't hurt.

Funny how exciting the research and then acquisition of parts has been. I see where Adam gets his enthusiasm from!

More progress

Pistons are coked like crazy. I was emitting a lot of smoke and using shed loads of oil the last year or so which explains the mess they're in. New rods n pistons clearly needed.

Any reason as to why the engine was like this?

The messy pistons?

I'd been using a lot of oil over the last couple of years. And by a lot I mean down to empty every month. Think that's 500ml every 4 weeks or so.

I'd put off having it investigated because I knew we'd be dropping the lot soon anyways. It was pencilled in for last year but other things got in the way so I've put up with it for longer than I would have liked.

Turbo seals? Driver's side was spitting out oil under load a little too into the engine compartment.

Haven't got a pic yet of teh passenger side pistons for comparison as that would indicate whether it was the driver's side turbo or something else.

Maybe the crank case breather system was blocked?

Open to suggestions?

No suggestions from me, was just surprised as the stock engines are typically bullet proof until the point of failure.

That's massive oil consumption, sounds like a hell of a lot more than just blowby, so I suspect your turbo oil seals was the most likely of your suggestions.

Since you are going forged, have you looked at the breather system? I'm looking at the bushur racing set up.

GT1R AOS will be fitted. It was the first part I bought at the end of 2014!

Turbo oil seals was my first thought and funnily enough I had the water lines fixed by MH under warranty back in 2009/10 (cant remember exactly) so maybe I had a dodgy turbo install from new.

I opened a thread awhile ago about quite a bit of oil in the inlet manifold when i took it off to paint it - my car used to plough smoke out under load - i put a diy catch tank from the crankcase breather and this seemed to stop it no problems since - here is a pic from another gtr manifold - maybe be this is why your pistons look like this . I see you have the GT1R catch tank to fit so that will sort that out

Thanks Terry yes I think there are two issues with mine and it's insane oil consumption.

Turbo seals are gone and blow past too.

AOS will be fitted, no doubt.
