Exclamation Tsukuba Track Dasy 19th April. Don't miss it!!!

Guys!

Tuesday 19th April is a special day!! There's a Tsukuba trackday on by Nishiki!
So, either 2 x 30 minute sessions for 16,000 Yen or 4 x 30 min sessions for 32,000 Yen!

Tsukuba's a special circuit. Very technical to drive, but also very safe with plenty of run off and gravel, etc. There will be aroun 50 cars in all, out on different sessions, ranging from Eunos Roadsters, to AE86's, right the way through to high power GT-R's. It's a friendly bunch of people with good ettiquette. If you're faster, they just let you by. It's not a race, but a chance to drive your car to your limits, learn track technique and enjoy it to the full. There may be a race driver there to give instruction for those who want it.

Each car gets a transponder and all laps are timed, at the end you get a printout of your times.

This is the best time of the year to go, as it's still fairly cool but not so cold the tyres won't grip, the weather's usually good too. So the cars will be in peak weather conditions for some good lap times!

My RX-7's going in for a turbo upgrade on 4th April, to be finished on 14th April, in time for playing with... Should be fun with a Knight Sports SS480 (TO4E based) conversion, lightweight flywheel and uprated clutch, at a bar or so...!

May also take my AE86 to do some drifting practice with too.. !

It's important if any of you want to come, to make sure your brakes have plenty of pad life left. Definitely more than half, as you'll eat through the brake discs otherwise, when your pads wear out! Tyres can be road tyres, or S tyres. Whatever you want. Make sure your oil is topped up to just above the dipstick, as you'll be cornering hard too!
Your brake fluid should also be changed if it's not had a flush in the last year, to avoid boiling over in the event you have some water in the system (Brake fluid is hydroscopic, it absorbs water). If your brake fluid is anything but clean, then change it. Cars will need to have the lights taped and you'll need a helmet. Clothes should be trousers and LONG sleeves. You won't be allowed out in T-Shirt and shorts! Also, you'll need to wear driving gloves. Bring your driving licence too. That's all you'll need!

To register, call Car Shop Nishiki on 047-358-1777. Fax: 047-358-1778.
If you need any assistance in English, either I or Atsushi Ihara can help (A friend of Nishiki's, who speaks perfect English - Also used to own a special Midnight Purple 3 R34 GT-R thats now in the UK!).

DCD'ss already indicated he's up for this. Bean, Gio, would be awesome to have you guys there too. I'm sure people would love your cars and you'd have a great time!

Let's get as many of us as possible together on this!! It's the most fun you can have with your trousers on!!

Miguel,

Would have loved to attend but it's the last day my parents are over before they fly back to the UK.
Please let me know when the next one is on.

OT - Good to see you at SA yesterday - had to go into work later so couldn't make Daikoku. What happened to your hair

We didn't make it to Daikoku either. Too wet and cold to go out, went for dinner with friends instead.

My hair...er, my idea to copy Gareth's highlights went wrong... Yuko (My girlfriend) ended up bleaching the top portion of my hair, then she dyed it black the next day to match.. The dye's washing out though.

I don't care. Don't need to impress girls as I ain't single, so I'll probably try it again sometime. Fancy a change

it sounds soo good. ill put in for leave that day see if my boss agrees to let me go. and i have to check with my financial advisor (my wife) to get my car topped off and ready for the event. nonetheless i dont see any problems of me coming out and play at least for the first time in a real track.

Sounds soooo tempting. I will make plans to attend. From what you mentioned, I should change out brake fluid. What specific kind do you recomend for my 33?
Yukio-you better enter your car.
So, 30 min X 2, so about 40 laps or so? I better practice on GT4 beofre I head out there...LOL I am sure it would not be a bad idea to at least memorize the turns from the game.

You'll need DOT 4 fluid (Don't be tempted to use DOT 5, as it's not compatible with DOT 4!) - This has a 155 Deg C boiling point - ample for track use. If fitting uprated pads, I recommend Endless CC-R's - totally fade free no matter how hard you use them. Good for R32's too!

The corners are best approached a little late, but they give some coaching on lines before the day begins

Will be really cool to have a whole load of us out there.

You WILL become addicted though!

BTW, also recommend oil cooler to Skylines, as the oil will get hot otherwise. If not fitted then you'll have to do cool more down laps..

Thanks for the heads up, Miguel. Unfortunately, I'll likely be back in Oz then for a bit of vacationing. Keep us posted on the next round.

Cya O!

Around 90 minute's drive, depending on what you're driving

by license-do you mean reg driver's license or do you mean a racing license?
Are there any classes we need to go prior to racing that day?
I am for sure down for this event.
Me and 2 others for sure will be in it to win it.

Regular driver's licence is OK.
No classes, just be there by 11am and there will be a driver's briefing, complete with guidance on racing lines, etc.

Make sure you call Nishiki and pre-book. Spaces are filling up fast, so be sure to call them soon (Number, etc. is above).

Dino - are you coming? My AE86 may be ready in time (We now think the misfire is because of incorrect carburettor jetting, though easy to fix IF I can get some Mikuni jets of the right sizes), if so, I'd like to take it, but need a second driver...

Daren't trust Shige in the AE86.

Should be fun to drift it around the track - 2 way diff''s being fitted just now!
