Well shell had no optimax this morning and I had no fuel, none of the 5 other nearby garages sell super so I had to put standard unleaded in the skyline.
What precautions should I take to avoid DET? - thus far I haven't revved above 5.5k. I don't have any way of detecting knock so am a little worried... Obviously I will buying some NF incase this happens again. If it matters my car is running an Abbey 1 bar ECU, fully decatted with blitz induction kit... Jon

Keep your boost down Jon, just drive it steady i.e. not full throttle and you should be okay.
As I understand it detting is most likely to occur under load, so in addition to not 'revving' the engine, don't drive round in a high gear at low revs with your foot fat to the floor - if you know what I mean.

Did this on way back from JAE. Only had a thimblefull left in tank so stuck in crap normal unleaded. Only put in £10, lowered boost and trundled home at a lowly 60mph
Ran it almost dry and then filled up with optimax. Survived but will top up earlier next time.
