700+ bhp

just out of curiosity how much does it cost to modify a Skyline engine to 700+bhp just the engine and ecu's
ie: crank, rods, pistons, injectors, turbo (or turbos) head work , cams ,ecu and all the gadgits, ect, ect, i know it's not cheap

our cossie cost about £9,000 to £10,000 with dyno to 500+bhp

CheeRs Marco

P.S does Rod Bell post on here ????

700+

Would cost you about £30,000 if done in one go.

GTR Power

The thing is that 700+bhp is only the goal of a few people and is far from the optimum power/cost curve.

It is better to put it as follows:

A good solid 420bhp can be had from simple mods (intercooler, boost controller, exhaust and filters), this should only costs £3k or thereabouts.

To get to 500-550bhp needs turbos, injectors, fuel pump, steel gasket, cams and a couple of other bits, this would cost about another £6k on top of the above.

Beyond this there are many parts that need changing and basically the entire engine is rebuilt.

I therefore tend to make the following general statement (given that the car starts with 300bhp or slightly over).

First 100bhp = £3k
Next 100bhp = £6k
Next 100bhp = £15k
Then the curve goes up....!

Guy

NB The above are based on factual experiences of mine and others.
