I still would like to see a comparison between a standard R35 and a R32/33/34 that has been correctly modified with the same power and larger than the RB26's standard capacity, same width tyres as the R35, modern G-Sensor/torque control, a non open front diff, and R35 brakes or equiv......oh and Matt J's paddle shift gearbox to make it all fair.

.......now that would be an interesting comparison!

Excellent, finally some activity on the forum

It has been done before. Concensus was that all gtr's regardless of vintage were crap. Very useful thread, and entertaining

There's no comparison if you've got to modify the **ck out of a r34 gtr to match a r35. No point.

R35 owners hate skyline owners and wouldn't be - little there presence next to a r34 gtr anyway. We're just poo on the r35 shoe.

Mine would be a good candidate bar the flappy paddles once mapped

But to some getting an R32/33-34 to the same power as a 600bhp R35 is not right to be conclusive it needs to have period parts from the era of what ever skyline model it is.

Haha! I'm just trying to even up the odds......there is no doubt the R35 is going to beat the Skyline, it's got more power, more torque, better brakes, better gearbox, more rubber, etc.......it's like bring a knife to a gunfight!
A bog standard Skyline GTR is a little unfair, they were already nobbled by the "power agreement" Japanese cars had at the time.

Agreed and would be nice to see how such skyline with similar power, modern braking, tyre size, g sensor, etc would compare.

Skylines have been making MEGA power since the 90's WAY before the R35 was a twinkle in a designers eye!!! Surely the wording should be:-

"Getting an R35 to the same power as an (insert massive bhp figure here) Skyline is not right"

Both fantastic cars but the review is pretty pointless given the huge gap between each model.
Interesting to watch but really proved nothing

Have had a few pms with Sam and hope to propose some dates for October where we can do some forms of comparison. If nothing else it will be fun. I would also like to see similar power skylines with twins and a single fight it out.

This was from the R35s are best thread. I will make a separate thread once I have some dates. Whilst sat waiting for the RAC recently I took the opportunity to plot out a course that should be good for both cars. Will be a single lap sprint event.

To prove which camp is the biggest pile of horse dung, we need two teams to compete. I would suggest across three discipline areas.

1. Runway (700 meters and roll racing from 50 mph)
2. Handling circuit dry
3. Handling circuit wet

I suggest these are the categories:

Fatties:
Team captain - gtr mart (650bhp)
1. stock CBA (480bhp) :
2. stock DBA (540bhp) :
3. stage 1-3 (600bhp) :
4. stage 4 (640bhp) :
5. stage 4.25 (650bhp) : Cronos?
6. stage 4.5/5(750bhp) :
7. 850 - 1000bhp :
8. 1000bhp + :
9. TBC
10. TBC

Rusties:
Team captain: git-r
1. stock (280bhp) :
2. stock mech - upto 1 bar (350bhp) :
3. 400bhp :
4. 500bhp :
5. 550 - 650 bhp single:
6. 550 - 650 bhp twins:
7. 700 - 800 bhp :
8. 850 - 1000bhp :
9. 1000bhp+ :
10. TBC

Wildcards:
1. stock GTST :
2. tuned GTST :
3. Yeti?
4. TBC

Helpers/marshalls:
1. General:
2. General:
3. General:
4. General:
5. General:
6. Photography:
7. Media:
8. Drone:
9. Timing
10. Timing

Propose this is run on an airfield near Evesham. Dates to be proposed but likely a Saturday towards the end of September or October

To make a decent sized track we will need to run track sessions in the morning then in the afternoon, clear the runway of cones to do the runway stuff - or we could just do track stuff. We could struggle with the wet runs but will see once we work out a track and timings.

Will not be an open event so if you fancy coming, it would need to be as a competitor or helper - so once agreed, get your names down.

I have suggested catagories for each car. Open to suggestions.

Some TBC slots - these will be filled depending on what level of tune of cars we have interested.

Put your name against the category if your interested and likely to do this. If someones name is already there, add yours next to it and if they drop out then your next in line. We may be able to get some additional numbers.

cost likely to be about £85 per car, including max 1 passenger.

If people are up for it, I may need to start a new thread. But lets see.

So, who's all talk then?

Ideally, you put a stock VQ38 or what ever the R35 GTR engine is into a R32 ,3,4 and compare the chassis?

Fantastic Martin - just as I said in my pm be careful about forking out unless you have cash from 'committed' participants. From the forum the ones that do take part are all good lads and reliable, fingers crossed everyone will be like this but the usual turn out is around 4!

About the r35 vs thing... Said this before but... :

There are many a better driver than me ie NurburgringGTR and his car on 888's with around 600 v's mine at 510 on kuhmo ku36's. We were consistently posting almost identical lap times at the last but one sprint - not just freak one off time but consitently whiting about .3 tenth's. Flip side was at the last sprint: a '13 GTr with stage 4ish mods and 888's v's mine at 540 and ad08r's was over a second quicker. (Although would like to add mine was quickest of any gtr in the wet )

Point being, really not much difference and a lot of the crap you hear here really is exactly that!

I will always have my eggs nestled in the 32 camp because getting anywhere near something as fast as the 35 is quite incredible given the date of manufacture.. problem is is that some owners take it as a personal insult when comparing and respond accordingly.... Check it out on the the threads... "You're a c8ny... No you're a cu8nt" .. Not quite that language but you get the picture..

May as well be, none of the 'old Skylines' really 'contributed' at TOTB anyway...
