Run Flats??

Has anyone tried the run flats from goodyear out?
Just wondering if they would be any good at high speeds?? -Obviously not track conditions, but for everyday use...

my mini came with 16 inch goodyear run flats, and to be honest though they may be convinient i swear they are heavier than my 19s without runflats. They are a bit harsher on the road but i dont think thats too much of a problem if your used to that with your suspension setups on the GTR.

All BMW's come with runflats now but from what alot of people on the mini sites i use say, they'd rather they came with normal tires because they really do weight the car down a bit. If you've got a fair amount of power under your hood though i dont think thats going to be a major issue

Oh and they are expensive. lol.

Hope this helps.

Just a thought, and not really relevant, but where do the Police stand in terms of runflats - I'm thinking of the 'stingers' they use to stop people getting away with our pride and joy. Surely if these tyres last around 50miles in a 'flat' state, then it gives thieves more of a chance to get away with it????

Just a thought, and sorry for hijacking your thread

as far as i know runflats work with zero tyre pressure, and i think the basis of the technology revolves around reinforces tire walls. Also apprently you can only go the distance the manufacturer says you can if you stay below 50mph or something like that. I cant remember the exact figures, but its in their sales blurb.

'stingers' are useless against run flats - the police are currently working on using systems that tangle netting around the wheels instead but this will probably be a long way off.
