Big end cap torque???
Hi there...
I'm in the middle of rebuilding my GTR engine I'm just about to check the oil clearances on the main bearing journals and the big end pins, so I can order the correct bearings. Obviously I need to torque down the bearing caps, I've had a look at the manual and the main bearing cap bolts should be torqued to 34-38 ft/lb, but for the big end cap bolts the manual says first torque to 12 ft/lb and then 60-65 degrees on an angle wrench, here lies the problem, I don't have an angle wrench, what is the equivilent torque value to 60-65 degrees??? Thanks Jason |

There is no equivilent as it depends on how much the bolts stretch. A gauge is the only way to do up the bolts. Make sure you paint mark the nuts with a dot at 12 oclock after using the Torque wrench, and before you use the Angle gauge as you cannot make a Second pass if you think you may have missed One.
