disc skimming/resurface

my brake discs have developed a small lip on the inner edge nearest the hub. im thinking, as there's still lots of metal on them(barely 10kmiles on them) that maybe i could get them skimmed.
has anyone got any comments/experience of having discs skimmed?
i dont fancy paying out for new discs as i intend to get a new car in the near(ish) future.

thanks

stew

how big is the lip? - it may not be anything to worry about - are they ridged at all?

i've had my current rear discs skimmed after mullering them by running the pads down to the metal on a trackday - they came out very nice and work well

all discs have a min thickness spec (in the workshop manual) and so long as skimming them doesnt make them thinner than this your ok

some people skim with a special machine which leaves a arc shapped milling marks - some poeple just use a lathe - i spose the key is thay they take care and line the discs up square

its on one disc, and its about a mm above the surface. its annoying as ive got some new pads i wanted to use, but i cant cos of the lip.
if skimming is seen as safe, then ill go ahead with it.

i think results can vary a bit - when i asked my mechanic if he knew somewhere i could get them skimmed he said "dont bother just buy new ones" when i exmplained exactly how expensive skyline discs were he said "in that case its worth a try!"

cost me £20 - i cant remember if that was each or for both
