Light

I have no main beam in one headlight - does the R32 GT-R take regular main beam bulbs as the dipped lights seem to be do a weird shuffle thing to an Xenon type light when switched on?

Is it the left hand headlight?

It could possibly be your headlight switch. I and many others had the same problem.

To fix just remove the rotary switch from the instrument surround - dismantle and clean the contacts with fine wet and dry (1000 grit) then spray with contact cleaner (maplin). Reassemble - job done.

Not sure about xenon bulbs - their are 4 different headlights fitted to R32's.
Quite often they have PIAA or Raybrig super bright bulbs fitted. Occasionaly there is a HID kit fitted (extra box on the main beam loom).

Thanks lightspeed. It may indeed be the switch as I noticed the lights at one time do not come on at all. It's the driver's side light that is out and a HID kit does seem to be fitted.

How do you remove the rotatry switch without causing any damage?

Problem solved - blown fuse! Fooled me as with most cars a fuse either covers both front lights or one side of the vehicle - in the R32 it covered just the mainbeam - bloody typical!
