just bought my first skyline but now i need help.
hello everyone, i've just become the proud owner of my first skyline a 1989 gts-t auto, i know, but i have to start somewhere.
the problem i'm having is it has started cutting out, i've narrowed it down to the exhaust but before i start taking it of i would like to know the chances of it being the cat, i'm a bit surprised a 1989 car has a cat but this one does. can someone give advice on how best to sort this problem. should i buy a decat pipe or go for the whole exhaust or if it is not the cat can someone point me in the direction where i can get a centre box. thx great site by the way. |

Excuse my ignorance.....
but how on earth have you narrowed an engine cutting out , down to the exhaust?? Actually cutting out on you?? Would have thought of lots of places to look before the exhaust and i am about as much use on an engine as a parachute is to a cave diver.

if the cat has collapsed you wil have lots of problems. Cutting out though is generally associated with an vent to amosphere BOV though.
gettig rid of the cat is no bad thing though ![]() Simon
