Cleaned MAF almost as good as new ones?

I gave my air flow meters a good clean with WD40 and the wire inside is clean (was covered with gunk, grime etc..) now its as the new ones..but is there anything indisde them that can deteriotate with time?

Or should I just buy some new ones?

popular consensus is not to use WD40, Carb cleaner is the recommended solution....

think the wire is the only bit likely to "deteriorate" (snap)

but even then, with care should last years and years
