300 BHP

Hi I just recently brought a R33 gtst for drifting and I want to bump it up from 250bhp to 300bhp it already has a nismo cat back exhaust HKS induction and thats pretty much that I had it dyno'd and it was kickin 262bhp
they said it was miss fireing so Ive brought some HKS iridium plugs they said with them they could turn up the boost and get about 280 but I want 300 so how would I do it. I have a blitz intercooler and a HKS blowoff.
Would down pipes help do it I want to keep it as chep as possible but also I need to keep the cat due to competition rules are ready for a change.
So if any one can help it will be appericiated.

Lewis,
As i've just answered one of your other posts, i might aswell answer this one aswell. If your local garage is telling you that you can crank up the boost now you have better spark plugs, then be prepared for a few bills.
If you only have a stock turbo, then anything above .8 bar for anything more than a few seconds, will surely be the demise of your turbo.
Downpipes will help flow, but fuelling has got to be a key figure in getting higher performance figures. Assuming that your car is fitted with a boost controller, then you can crank it up a tad, as generally GTST's run at about .7 bar boost.
You can get performance cats now if you need to comply with any regs, not that i was aware of any new regs.

mine is running 310bhp atw and 287lbs, ive had a Greddy front mount intercooler, Custom one piece 3"zorst, Induction kit, boost contoller and was running at 1bar, but as paul said expect big bills, after a month my turbo blew so then a rebuild was done. All in all to 310bhp ive spent nearly 3grand and now spent another £2500 to get it to 400bhp, itll cost you, and make sure u get the turbo rebuilt and ecu.

what adjustments to timing have you made?

I have an rb25det in my 200sx. Its got full exhaust, filter, FMIC fuel pump and boost @ 0.8bar, should I change my timing?

What turbo you using to get 310atw? I would like to aim for around that figure.

Thanks
Tom

timing was advanced slightly, the turbo is a rebuilt with steal internals and 360 bearings, im running at 1bar. I would only alter the timing as part of a tune up on a rolling road, u could do it your self but ud have to keep testing it listening for det then altering it again. I would also suggest putting a big cooler on, this alone gave me 20bhp.
hope this helps

Got a big front mount Are you still using thew stock plenum? My biggest problem with it was that my IC pipe run has to be really long due to no space in the engine bay to go back over the engine.

I was told by someone to set timing to 10 ot 11 deg btdc, but I would like more than ione persons advice....

I was looking at using a GT3071R, emanage and some 720's. Have many people in the UK pushed the stock engine to see what power/revs it can take?

Factory static ignition timing is 15deg +/- 2deg at 650rpm. So at 10deg you would be down on power, not sure why anyone would recommend that. With an fmic you should be safe to advance the ignition timing a bit, as long as your not running much higher than stock boost. Although it would still be best to get it done on a dyno so you can keep an eye on afr's and listen for detonation.

Had mine dynoed at new too and it was same spec, but with standard airbox and performance element. This too was 262bhp.. Makes me wonder what sort of power the standard air box is good for..

Well my mates GTST 'used to' make 320 lbft but check out this thread below
http://www.skylineowners.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=28133

Thats what happens when you "turn up the boost"
The exhaust wheels totaly dissintigrate!
Your cheapest route is to get your turbo rebuilt with steel internals for around 650 quid, you would then beable to run a bar of boost but you then start to max out the injectors and air flow meter if you go much further than that, if it starts to run lean=BANG!
