R34 coolant reservoir EMPTY

Hi i've just buy a GT-R R34 Skyline VSPEC from UK with 12.000 miles. I checked that external coolant reservoir is empty. I checked the radiator and it comes with coolant. However I drive the car and the water temperature is normal.

In your opinion can i refil the Coolant reservoir without problem? What coolant can i use? The water in the reservoir could be evaporated?

Thanks

Carlo

Hi,

I've the original service invoice by Middlehurst with all data. The car did the first service at 6000 miles, and the main service at 12.200 Miles last April 2004; the previous owner has a lot of japanease cars (supra, lexus, etc) and used the GTR for only 130 miles this year. Now the car has about 12.330 miles. My Idea is to try refill the reservoir tank with -22 -> +115 coolant fluid mixed with water. I think if there were somewthing wrong the temperature of engine would go to high temperature.

Hi don't really understand well the following phrase:

>>>>> There wasn't any mayo in the filler cap was there?

Please, can you explain me better?

Thanks

Carlo

lack of coolant "could" indicate a blown headgasket, although i'm no mechanic and i'm not sure youd still have water in the rad etc.

BUT

if you open the oil filler cap and theres a creamy whitre sludge, it indicates water is getting in amongst the oil, possibly pointing to a blown head gasket

but for gods sake don't take my word on that

Hi Mookistar,

Thank you for reply. Now i understand well. I checked and all seems ok; There is not rest of creamy sludge, then the radiator is full with coolant fluid. I contacted the previous owner and he said me that the liquid in the reservoir could be evapored because the car it is been stopped for one year in his garage. Like wrote the maintenance seems very good like i can see in the original middlehurst invoice service.

However i will check also with a mechanic.

Thank you

Carlo
