Next stage
I currently own what would be considered a stage 1 modded R32 GT-R - PFC, exhaust, air intake etc running 0.85 bar with 311bhp at the wheels. Sometime in the future I would like to move to the next stage of power using the existing tubs with steel internals.
I know this question must have been asked a 100 times before but... How much funding will it take to replace the cermanics with steel internals and how much power and bars can I get from this mod alone with a PFC remap - do I need to mod anything else at the same time for safety etc?

AFAIK standard turbos with steel internals will run to 1.2, much more than that they become inefficient. You should get about 480 at the crank on them. I think you could stick with the standard fuel pump and injectors with an uprated fuel pressure regulator but it would be borderline.
I've been quoted about £1000 for converting to steel (cash) and it's about £500 labour for fitting plus a remap, fuel pressure reg (~120). It might be worth fitting elbows while they were off (~350 UK supplied). If you haven't already got it, a decat (~70) and front pipe (~250) would be worthwhile and exhaust if you haven't alraedy got it. Best have a chat with one of the specialists, RB will put you right. |
