R32 MOT failure

My car just failed its MOT for the following items and i need some advice on which parts to get and the best place to get them.

1. Both front tensin rod bushes.
2. Rear link (the part the is connected to the hicas rear wheel steer).
3. LH steering rack boot.
4. The MOT tester also said that i'd need to replace my lambda sensor as it readings all over the place.

what are the option available for these parts, are there aftermarket alternatives, or do i just contact nissan and get OE? do any of the tuners out there supply these parts?

Thanks
Aktar

Middlehurst Nissan should be able to supply those parts oe. That would be my course of action cos i am lazy...one phone call does all.

Lambda sensor...suspect you can get bosch one cheaper than oe.

Front tie rods and bushes...uprated ones available from SRB Power or possibly Abbey. I believe Abbey can also supply all OE parts (they have Middlehurst's old parts guy).

Hope that is of help.

I'd give Abbey a ring, probably get whiteline caster adjustable tension rod bushes, (if they have them).

whiteline caster adjustable tie rod bushes, are these soem kind of polyurethene type bush or something? at the moment my car has coilovers fitted and has been lowered, this is causing the inside edge of the tyre to wear much more than the rest of the tyre, hopefully these bushes will help to rectify this problem, i think i'll give abbey's a call on monday.

does anyone have any part numbers for bosch lambda sensors, or any other lambda sensors?

thanks for the info guys.

As far as i am aware these are really toe in adjusters. What you need is camber adjustable upper arms or something like the whiteline adjustable camber kit. Being a rwd owner (no camber adjustment at front) i am not too sure whether the r32 GTR has adjustable camber at front in standard form or not?

Thumbs up

Thanks for the advice

Just spoke to abbey's yesterday and they advised me to get front nismo bushes, and a standard rear ball joint link. The approximate cost for both these items (two pairs, front and rear) comes to £200. Now i've also been doing a search on the web and have found that it is possible to get adjustable tension rods with pillow ball joints (cusco, tein, jic, midori) and am thinking if i should go all out and get these instead???
i still haven't found anything for the rear part yet. could someone host the pics of these kits, just need to be sure i've identified the correct part.

The wear on your tyres could well be a result of those knackered bushes.

If money is tight right now, there are a couple of 32's being broken on here at the mo. Try contacting one of those.

Regards

Hi mate regarding the rear hicas link, if its the ball joint end that is in the rear hub then you can buy r33gtr ones, i did this with my first r32 gtr although you do have to take off the rear hub to press it out and then in( comes in handy being a nissan hi-tech, looking up parts is a doddle, i can get you the part number tomorrow if you want) i think i payed about £52 quid for mine. Or buy the hicas locking kit and do away with it all plus it saves weight

You still need the ball joints even with a Hicas locking kit.

Just took the car to another MOT place and they passed it, i asked the guy if the bushes were ok and he said they were a little worn but there wasn't any play?? he originally failed it for the steering rack boot, but he had a universal one which he put on for me. He didn't mention anything about the lambda sensor either???

I can't understand all this inconsistancy with MOT places, surely there are set rules and guidelines these guys must stick too. I think i'll just take the car to Rods and get a professinal opinion on the state of the car.

I am a mot tester myself mate and the guidelines are quite plain to read in the book, but its all down to testers discression and how he interprets the guidelines. Its drummed into us at my work if you cannot find it in the book pass and advise
