You need to be able to pump at the correct rate. I looked at these pumps and they were (in my opinion) not stong enough. I have 3 of the Nissan (Hitachi piston type) pumps left over from my project - brand new. These Nissan pumps were used on the 300ZX rear axel and R32. They originally retailed for £600 +Vat and were the ones used by Middlehurst on the R34 mods.
If you want any info on fitting coolers, look at my previous threads earlier this year. It took me a lot of time and effort to get the set up right and I used 2 pumps to cool the getrag and transfer boxes. The electrics ended up being a bit of a head ache, but in the end worked out how to do it so that they only work with the engine running and when the boxes get to a 80' (make sure you do not use the pump to move cold oil!) I did not bother with the rear diff' as on the R34 GTR v-spec, the rear diff has cooling fins anyway. My wifes 1.1993 S13 200SX 1.8 Turbo has a rear diff cooler and pump (not the same pump as above), so see if you can get one off a scrapped car. Not sure if it will do the job, but works well on her S13. Nik Last edited by NikWilson; 7th August 2005 at 10:05 PM. |

Jabsco make a suitable nitrile impeller pump, the Mocal ones I have used on loads of different transaxles on race cars, too. Or Niks set up should be fine of course. The Jabsco ones tolerate some trash going through them, the Mocal ones need a filter screen in the input 9suction) line.

I did have one of the mocal pumps as you show in your post, but are in no way as good quality or as robust as the Hitachi ones. The flow rate is not so good either. I felt it was false economy to use the Mocal pumps, but this was just my opinion when comparing the 2 makes side by side. Also, I was not selling the kits, all I did was to recommend the garage wher the tests and design were done with myslef over winter last year. They sell the kits and can if needed fit them. I have all the designs etc and the way to wire up the pumps via the alternator and bore size of the braided hose I used. Also the way the rad's are mounted is crutial. Mine are bolted to a plate, wheich in turn is bolted to the underside of the spare wheel well. Hope this helps, if you do want to buy the 3 new pumps, let me know. I was not posting as a sales pitch by the way!!!!!!! cheers Nik W Last edited by NikWilson; 8th August 2005 at 10:44 AM. |
