as i understand this is called "hicas Wobble"

can be problematic if the front wheels were not dead stright when you disconnected the battery

I changed my battery and had the same problem. Dis-connect the battery and leave overnight, then make sure the wheels are straight and re-connect. If this don't work might be worth having the alignment checked.

On another not where in Somerset are you from???

Have you got some bass in the boot???
Search on here as there have been many posts about it
More likely the cause,if the wheels were not straight when the batt got connected you would notice it all the time.

Does the battery have to be disconnected for a long period such as overnight like Kenan suggested for it to work or can it be left for an hour so? Just asking as I'm pretty positive I'm getting the "Hicas wiggle" (I say wiggle because it doesn't seem as drastic a full on wobble) at highish speeds.

It's done it with the stereo on and off so (standard stereo at that) I think I'd have to rule that one out. Where abouts is the Hicas control unit, inside the boot with the ECU?

yes, the Hicas control unit is in the boot, The engine ECU is in the N/S/F kickpanel.
