Long Time Lurker...

Hi All

I've been a long time lurker on this forum after having my eyes set on a GT-R since they first came out, I'm now at the stage where I'm seriously looking to buy and won't bore you with the typical noob questions as I feel pretty clued up. After watching the prices for the last few years I can't believe how strong the sellers market is on these cars (if anything prices seem to be going up!) Bonus is I'm hoping I won't lose too much on depreciation at least!

I'm interested in your thoughts on a car I've got in mind at Shaks Specialist Cars, it's the blue MY11 Stage 4.25.

After a bit of searching it's actually cropped up before on a couple of threads where people have said they feel it's overpriced and to be fair it does seem to have been on sale for a while, but can anyone expand on that? I have seen MY11s in the mid 40s early last year but not anymore. This seems to be on par with the other DBAs on autotrader with the bonus of it being a Stage 4.25, the mileage is also pretty good at 22,500.

My initial criteria was I would prefer an MY11 as this seems to be the sweet spot between the early cars and most recent, I also really like the Blue that only the DBA cars came in and this one seems to tick most of the boxes. The only thing is I don't want to get ripped off!

Thanks

For a decent stage 4.25 with that mileage on a DBA car, assuming it needs nothing doing, you'd be looking at 53-55k.

Nice car but to me it does seem on the high end of pricing but the guy must be confident it will sell for that...

I don't think it's high at all for a stage 4.25 with a titanium exhaust with mileage that low.

I take it this one:

Shaks Specialist Cars Ltd - Huddersfield - West Yorkshire | Quality Used Cars in West Yorkshire

Looks like it is priced correctly for a Litchfield stage 4.25 with that mileage and spec.

Although It doesn't look like GTC exhaust tips so I would query that, also seems like new discs fitted, also check on that as it seems like different fronts and rears fitted which may be a mistake in the advert. If all is as the advert states I can't see you getting much off the price. You can also fully confirm with Litchfield what work they have carried out on the car and exactly what spec it is.

Wouldn't say I'm 100% set as if the right CBA came along for me then I'd still consider it. Just had a gander at yours and it's a lovely car mate I'm just looking for something with the 'stock' look. Best of luck with the sale though bud

Doubt it, I personally prefer the look of the DBA cars but have seen many people say they prefer the CBA cars.

For me it's not just the looks but the mechanical changes that came about and my inner pickiness wanting the 'newer' model. Although having said that I guess that if your intention is to modify then the mechanical changes argument becomes less valid!

Well, after 6 months searching I've just agreed a deal for a Daytona Blue 2012 model with only 16k on the clock! Should hopefully be picking it up next weekend all being well. Also have a nice drive back from Scotland to the East Mids as my first drive too which should be fun.

Few questions for you guys before I collect the car and finalise the deal:

I originally thought it was stock, but after questioning the dealer believes it has an SVM650R conversion which is a bonus. I've asked them if they have the COBB unit with the car and they don't really know what I'm talking about so I've asked them to speak with the previous owner (my suspicion is he sold it). I spoke with Amar at SVM earlier and he mentioned that if it has been removed then the map will revert back to stock. I'm a little concerned that if the modified parts were kept on the car it won't be running correctly etc, can anyone advise further? If I don't bottom this one out I may be asking if the car can be checked by a local specialist such as Garage R.

It's suffering from some usual GTR problems such as the rear diffuser flaking. Obviously it is out of it's 3 year warranty but has anyone had any luck claiming for this on a paintwork/corrosion warranty through Nissan? I know people have had it replaced under the 3 year warranty.

Oh and this is what she looks like..
