Are some of the pistons named in this thread really that bad? or are you guys talking from personal experinces?

After all if they where that bad surley they wouldnt be making them for the Rb engines would they? I dont want to sound daft but Im a novice with all this stuff so any constrcutive feedback would be great

p.s sorry for the hi-jack!

Making Pistons for an RB engine is no different to any other, so I'm not sure why the comment on quality, but to answer your question about whether any of the listed Pistons are that bad, the answer is no.
Given the choice, I would think most people would choose any of the ones in the list over stock pistons. Also, there are a number of stock pistoned cars running above 600bhp, so for the majority of owners, any pistons off the list would be an improvement.
Having said that, there appears to have been issues with JE gudgeon clips, where they have reportedly come loose and scored the bore. They also have a high heat expansion, so need loose bore clearance, so are slappy when cold.
Wiseco have a low compression ratio (7.9 - 8.0:1), so unless you specifically want low CR these are no good. (although you could ask Wiseco to do some custom ones at whatever CR you want).
Then some pistons have oil channels in them some don't, some have big ring lands that withstand DET better, some don't (smaller lands are generally better for piston function), so we are in the take your pick scenario, which always leads to heated debates, and what I'd choose is better than what you'd choose, even though I haven't got any ....yet nah nah ne nah nah
