Power FC Pro launch control - how???

I'll apologise if people view this as a spurious extra thread, but the other two aren't specifically about the launch control feature on the Power FC Pro.

I got my PFC Pro second hand with no instruction manual, and having had a brief flcik through the SETTINGS and ETC. menu cannot, for the life of me, see how to access this function. There are a few things on there that I'm not sure what they are, but I don't want to go playing in screwing it all up.

Can someone please explain, clearly and in idiot-proof language - how to access and set up the launch control function?

Cheers for any help anyone can offer

Jim

On the Rev limit page the top figure is the standard limiter figure (i.e 7000rpm etc), the NEXT figure down is the L/C rev limit. Set it to 3000rpm (for a test) and exit the setting menu.

Then, with the car stationary (it only activates at 0mph, then turns off at 1mph+) blip the throttle past 3000rpm. If it goes past then you've not got a PRO, if it lets all hell loose with pops and bangs at 3000rpm then you've got L/C.

Then set the L/C revs to what ever figure you want the limiter to kick in at.

So how do you turn it 'on' and 'off' then?

And is it safe to do on a cold engine? Just to test it?

If it's spooling the turbo's then no. Though I'm not sure whether it does or not... so this is quite a useless reply really!

Jim - It turn on automatically every time your speedo reads 0mph (i.e at standstill) and turns off when you move. I'd always test it on a hot engine personally, it nots worth breaking sometime over a 5 min wait.

Dragging with the L/C at 3500rpm mine built 0.8bar of boost sat still but the boost meant my launches were huge smokey-tyred filled affairs!

Just gone into SETTINGS then REV/IDLE (bottom right)

The options were:

REV LIMIT
F/C A/C XXXX
F/C A/C XXXX
IDLE A/C XXXX
IDLE A/C XXXX

I tried one at a time to set the limits to 2500, then went back to MONITOR and revved the engine - it sailed past 2500 each time??!?

Am I being thick or does it look like my Pro is in fact just a normal PFC?

REV LIMIT - Your rev limit (!!!)
F/C A/C XXXX - Fuel cut speed AC off
F/C A/C XXXX - Fuel cut speed AC on
IDLE A/C XXXX - Idle speed AC off
IDLE A/C XXXX - You guessed it, Idle speed AC on.

That lot are from the non-pro version. I `thought` you needed the software to set the lauch control (Datalogit)?

It's the 1st/top F/C A/C figure thats the L/C (it was on mine) so if it sails past without lots of popping and banging (like below) WHEN the cars NOT moving then you may not have a PRO

To check go into the ETC menu and select Version - thats should say PRO!

But I'm pretty sure that the ECU unit itself has "Power FC Pro" on the outside...

I'd ring Abbey/Rod Bell/Riasing Sun etc just to confirm that I'm not talking rubbish as it's been over a year since I've used my PRO, but I'm fairly sure I'm right.
