Question Boost pressure, higher than normal, how?

Can anyone out there shed any light on the subject of running higher boost pressure on an R32 GT-R . My car, which I was told when I bought it, was pretty much standard and had not been interfickered with too much. Just the basic stuff..... Apex'i exhaust, HKS panel air filter (origional air box). I never noticed the boost pressure when I bought it, but it is running 700mm/hg on dash gauge (approx. 1bar) this dropps slightly when engine is hot to 550-600mm/hg (what could be the possible cause of this? ) After reading several posts on here and other Skyline info I now know that 1bar is higher than factory settings and would require some sort of engine management alteration . Is one way of doing this, simply fitting a chip into the ECU and adjusting the turbo actuator rods to give the desired pressure? (Have had experience in fiddling with Cosworths in the past, and that was basically the easiest way to kill your engine in one of them! ) If so, how can I detect and prevent costly engine damage/failure in my new toy. There are no tell tale signs on the ECU, looks like standard Nissan equipment to me, would there be a tuners name on a chip inside?. It is booked for some rolling road time to see exactly what is going on in the HP department and to check everything is OK. Just thought I would ask all you knowledgable types as where the car is going do not specialise in Skylines so might need some extra info. to help them along.
Thanks in advance

no worry man... 1 bar was not that high in bnr32...just keep the water temp in <85C, oil temp <105C, intake air <70C... than it can be last long... (the info found in 2002 Janpanese option)
