Is boost uniform?

I mean, I've got some rebuilt R33 Tubbies coming, with steel internals. I'm not sure of the actual spec, but i imagine they are simply standard R33 spec, only without the scary ceramic bits

My question

I currently run 1 bar on an Abbey ECU. If i whack on the Steelies and still run one bar, does the car need remapping? Or will the turbo's work just the same as my ceramics, only with the oppurtunity to up boost with a remap at a later date?

thanks

mook

Boost pressure and airflow are hugely different, but if the wheels and housings are standard size and style (just with a metal exhaust wheel rather than ceramic) then they will flow the same at the same boost, so yes.

thank you. That was i thought. wasn't sure if the steel turbo's would give a different boost characteristic and cause running problems

cheers

They'll probably spool up a bit later, as that was the reason behind using ceramic wheels in the first place I think.

i had wondered if lag would increase from a percived "heavier" wheel.

but so long as the mapping can accomodate that, i'm happy to put up with it.
