What are the symptoms of a faulty AFM?

I had a look in the sensor section of my PFC screen the other night. What should the voltage reading fro mthe AFMs look like at idle? Steady and unchanging or wavering up and down?

Just wondering if my naff idle could be due to faulty AFM. What are the symptoms of a dead AFM then?

Quite flat, around 1V each.

If you have an idle problem, the voltage will vary with speed and load anyway - a bit of a circular argument.

Do you get reasonable clean voltages (steadily increasing) during a slow/medium acceleration, are the two voltages within 10% of each other?

Does the idle get better / worse if you unplug one or other MAF sensor?

Have you tried squirting a brake / clutch cleaner all around the intake gaskets?
