Flames & my Boost Controller

Hi all,

Couple of quick ones for you.

a) Are flames coming out of the exhuast a problem? I know it always brings a huge smile to my face but I do get a few and wondered if this meant something was wrong. The only annoying factor I can think of is the colour the whole rear of my car goes with the fumes

b) I tend to switch between hi - lo power by simply switching off my Profec boost controller. I tend not to meddle with the settings after Abbey rolling road tested it and set the boost at the most he could without the EMS having a baby. This morning after having a small blip down the A34 on hi boost, I switched off the profec. I usually run the boost after doing this to check it is back to running on the factory wastegate setting. This morning it wasnt!! Does this mean that my Profec has finally given up the ghost or do I have a leak somewhere? Any ideas? I have an accurate boost gauge so can keep an eye on things, but curious as to why this has happened. Should I stop turning it on and off??

Cheers,
Al

It could be just the wastegate stuck closed with all the carbon thats probably built up over the past X years. Are you still running standard turbos (ones that originally came with the car and never been off)?

Try it again, personally i dont think its the boost controller as it seems that before you turned it off it was boosting fine.
