2530's fitted - poor performance...

as in my earlier thread, I fitted some gt2530's and HKS split dumps. Took it for a run and don't notice any difference in performance at all! I believe it is my exhaust.

on my old setup it made 230rwkw on 10psi, so I will take it to the same dyno and see what it is making now. It currently has a 3 inch mandrel system with 2 x 3 inch straight through mufflers, but I'm going to put my old 3.5 inch system on, as it was much better even with the stock turbos.

after I do a power run to compare the 2530' + HKS dumps, I'll then fit my PFC, sard 720cc injectors, HKS cam gears and bigger AFM's + turn up the boost a bit

Snyone else done a comparison on just the turbos? I expect it will be pretty much the same.....

Hey Dan,

Long time no speak

When I put the 2530's on mine, it was pretty crappy until I started to crank some decent boost into it (1+ bar) when they started responding very very well. Id also advise you dont flog it on the 2530's until you have the new ECU in the car and tuned, as the 2530's pump alot more air out as opposed to the stock turbos and you may lean the car out quite badly.

Chuck a set of camshafts in it, and youll be laughing On that note, know anyone who wants to buy some 2530's? T51R-SPL is on its way

Hey Nik

Good to hear from you I can't access SAU, so have been cruising here I'll be putting the old system on next week, as I took it for a run on my counrty road without an exhaust (just the front pipes and cat) and it was a completely differernt car! and that was just keeping it on 10psi... won't turn it up til I take it to either croydon or hitman for tuning.

your car will be nice with the T51! so many big power GTR's in Canberra now, anything less than 350rwkw is a yawn!!!

have you seen Stirlo's latest project?

UPDATE!

Had a dyno run yesterday. last year my virtually stock GTR (pods, front pipes & hard pipe kit) made 230rwkw @ 10psi on the stock turbos. Yesterday, I took it back to the same dyno to check that he AFR's were safe. No keep in mind that that ONLY things to have changed on the car was the fitting of HKS 2530's, Xforce dumps (down pipes) and a Blitz iD III EBC. After some cautious boost increase's we settled on 275rwkw @16.8psi AFR ~ 11.8:1 (rich) - no detonation! from what the graph showed the turbos were just gettign started.... oh, and this is an 89' GTR with a stock engine.

just under 370hp at the rear tyres, so yes - pretty happy with it. Once I change to the bigger exhaust, I expect them to spool a bit soon and stronger. I have the Apexi PFC, Sard injectors, HKS cam gears and Rb25 AFMs to fit as well. once this is all done, I'm hoping for about 330rwkw (although I was told it would be more!) so this would be about 440hp at the rears I will update once all done (I'll be pretty cautious as it is still an internally stock engine - though I have heard that with good tuning they are good for 550 - 600hp @ engine, which I sould be under )

TBH, I haven't looked to see where full boost comes in at, but they are strong from about 4700rpm+ they do feel a laggier than the stockers, but I think that will change once I increase the exhaust size. I will post the results of the dyno sheets of stock, 2530's and the full kit once I have the PFC on and tuned.

Even on relatively standard cards a well mapped pfc seems to release a lot of power and driving pleasure so I would imagine with the tubs you have and other bits you will see some really pleasing results.

cheers

yeah, be interesting to see how it all goes - will post results once done. (I have the parts - bar upgraded AFM's, but my biggest problem is having to drive nearly 300km for a tuner with a good reputation and experience....)
