T51R-SPL Info

Hi everyone,

Just after some information/advice regarding the HKS T51R SPL turbo (ball bearing). Anyone thats running them with any sort of power figures (on pump fuel), engine builds etc?

My engine has been rebuilt and has a standard crank, shot peened conrods with ARP rod bolts, Arias forged pistons, lots of head work, Tomei 260 in/ex camshafts, N1 oil pump, o-ringed etc. What are peoples thoughts on running such a large turbo on this engine? I will be using a Trust 600x300x136mm twin entry drag intercooler, and 19 row oil cooler (40mm radiator as well). I am looking for an easy/lazy 400 - 450kw at the wheels, with that big single turbo hit as well.

Just any general information people can provide on wether it will not be such a good idea on my setup etc would be appreciated. Also will the stock gearbox last long if I dont mash through gears (slow gear changes, but still 100% throttle once changed into the gear).

Thanks

Hey Nik

Dean from UPI ran one of the earlier plain bearing types on his GTR (which I considered buying) and he achieved 450rwkw with a dyno sheet to prove it. he was running a setup similar to yours - but STD head. I can't remember what boost was used though.

he said it was on full boost by 5500 from memory, and I don't imagine you will have any box issues if not violent on the changes (shifted quickly - not slamming the gears! will give the syncros time to slow the gears). BSM are still using the stock box the last time I heard and they are in the top 10 quickest GTR.

I'd tend to think your car could support your desired kw with that turbo look forward to seeing more!!!

Way too big a Turbo for what you want (1000bhp rating), would be a complete waste. You want something like a Garrett GT35R, will still give the hp you want but spool much earlier.

rb26 cams, t51spl bb 24 psi on pump fuel and safe tune 600rwhp.

on c 16 30psi 700 plus hp all 4 wheels...runs 9.4 at 150mph street tyres.

comes on hard at 6000rpm to 10000rpm.

hope this helps.
