I like his comment "I spent a lot of money on fast cars, birds and booze and I squandered the rest" perfect

i cant believe they're still harping on about this in the news!
yes for a couple of years in the he was a great footballer, but he cut that short by getting ****ed!. then he carried on getting ****ed for the rest of his life, knocking lumps out of men and women, drink driving, ruining another good liver(imagine how you would feel if one of you're family was waiting for a liver). we all make mistakes but he was above average. and he is classed as a role model.... were doomed

First of all,
George Best was a footballing legend that many will never forget. But, one thing that does slightly annoy me is that Richard Burns recieved next to zero coverage from the media. He was a man that was a world champion in his field, had absolutely no choice in his fate, and yet his (and my..) local newspaper, who would usually embrace a local sporting legend, saw it appropriate to put his story far from the headline for the day. George Best was given many chances, call me ruthless but I have no sympathy for him.. RIP Burnsy and George Best.

What annoys me is that on almost the same day as George Best died, Richard Burns passed away. Now you have two great sportsmen. One ****ed himself away in to oblivion multiple times poisoning not just his own, but transplanted organs as well, all the time remaining the working class hero. One was struck down with a terrible affliction, none of his own doing, had his career destroyed in its prime and has now passed on after incredible suffering.
Only one was a World Champion, but the other one has had all the media coverage. Its not right to speak ill of the dead, but i refuse to accept this martyrdom the media is trying to create around the man. Had his life, ****ed it, given a chance at another one, ****ed that too. Beat his wife up a bit in the process. Grade A example to be setting the youth of today.

rally driver used to drive for subaru.
I think that it is wrong to be slabbering about somebody that has just died, grow up everybody and have some respect for the dead, everybody makes mistakes, im sure nobody on here is perfect, and not sure if anybody on here has lost a relative or friend to the same disease as george, and I said disease as that is what it is, I recently lost my boss, who I was very close to, to the demon drink, he fought it for years and in the end he lost, but spending time with him when he was on his drink binges you could see he was trying to stop but couldnt! Everybody is entiled to their own thoughts but I dont think there is any need for slabbering about the dead, im sure if anybody on here passed away you would prefer people to say good things about you, and talk about the good things you have done, not post up your flaws and slabber about you on a public forum. I am surprised that moderators have not locked this or asked people to tone it down, its very disrespectfull what is being said. I for one will be at his funeral on sat, so I will pass on all your best wishes to him as he is laid to rest at roselawn, beside his mum.
