After another busy few hours..
Note how much the water jacket stickes out the side of the RB30 block. This caused the exhaust manifild to foul a little. To overcome this simply grind/file a bit off the manifold..
The exhaust is now mummified, twice in some areas.
Getting the manifold nuts on becomes a tad more difficult due to the increase on dia if the pipes.
Notice the silver heat wrap that runs inder the manifold. THats got the thermocouple wires in it. They are rated to 120degs C before they melt. You can get higher rated ones, but I think this will do.
Now the knock sensors. I simple ground/filed/stoned the 2 bosses flat and drilled/tapped them M8 making sure I didn't go too deep and enter the water jacket.
This is what the oil return pipe will look like when its finished. I've had a few teething problems in this area due to my insistance in having a large bore pipe. All the AN- fitting are small bore in comparison to the thread size. 5/8" is what in trying to use, but the pipe is so unflexable, it makes it real hard to fit. I need to make up a proper elbow as I can't buy one to suit my application.
Here is another(nearly finished) front view.
