HKS 2540's

Been offered a decent pair of 2540's with equal lenght manifolds and top pipes etc off a mate who is going the big single route.

What are peoples opinions on these blowers and what sort of power could i expect to see?

My cars current spec

Standard RB26 block and internals
Unknown hybrid steel twin T3 turbos
Equal lenght exhaust manifolds
Apexi PFC
550 injectors
HKS 264 / 272 cams and pulleys
Apexi N1 evo exhaust
Trust down pipes
Trust de-cat
Trust intercooler
HKS hard pipe kit
HKS induction kit
Nismo fuel pump

Last outing on the RR it was pushing

525.8 BHP (flywheel)
414 LBFT
422.7 BHP (wheels)

All at 1.2 BAR of boost.

Would i see any improvement on the above figures with the 2540's?

Cheers

You would need Z32 MAFs and 720 injectors to see the benefit then you are good for 600/720 bhp@the flywheel if the engine will take it.I had a pair fitted to my car but like the smaller turbos for the road better. My car used to drink a quater of a tank of fuel every 20mins when driven hard.

Was thinking id need bigger injectors and Mafs, these can wait until the rebuild next year though.

Cheers

Only problem i can see with that is that your starting to get into engine internals teritory for long term reliability if your going to see the full bennefit of 2540s. Their also a more of a 'top end' blower from what ive read compared with 2530s and the like so reinforcing the former point ive made above

If you have a search on skylinesaustralia.com you'll find that 2540 don't always work that well on RB26s...

Cheers

GTR R33 Lee

Have just got the old turbos out of my boot Will write down all the AR numbers and post a few pics of them etc tomorrow if i get a chance. Still not 100% sure as to what they are. Inlet housing looks about the sameish size as standard but the exhaust housing is as big as my 2540's
Hopefully someone on here will be able to help out with identifying them. They have even got HKS elbows on them?

Steve

Oh dear. Looks like i was a little too close to 'engine internal teritory'.

Now have a dead engine.
Thought it seemed alot quicker for a bit.

GTR R33 Lee. I think we're getting our wires crossed here mate.
The car made 525 BHP on the OLD (unknown) turbos, was running fine for ages with them on.
The engine blew on the HKS 2540 turbos.

Something in the engine let go on tickover. ( Loud metal slapping metal sound from inside the block)

Engine should be stripped in a few weeks so hopefully i should find out more then.

I think the standard GTR turbos are T28 (someone correct me if im wrong)
