Question Another Offset Question

I'm looking to purchase a set of 17x9 or as a last resort 18x9 wheels for my R32 GTR. The design I'm looking at has an available offset of 17mm or 27mm.
Which would be better? I know the Nismo 17x9s are 22mm offset.
Is it better to spread the extra width over front and rear of mounting point or have the full extra width extending outwards? I'm thinking having all the extra width in outboard of the hub face will increase the loading on the wheel bearings.
Any thoughts or advice welcomed
