Due to an unforseen incident where one of the local Motorplex staff was injured the final shootouts had to be canceled.
As Ron and Adrian have equal points overall in all classes we have given the 1st place in all classes to Ron as he Won an event in his class where as Adrian only got as high as second in all classes.

As this is an Arabian event we had to judge in classes to find a UAE champion to go forward into future TOTB international events.

Fantastic results ... well done to the UK guys - there was so much talk about how the UK guys were going to get their asses kicked and yet on the overall results all 4 of the UK cars are in the top 5 placings.

Alan - thanks for keeping us all informed of this event

The overall rankings do not include Zlatko Mulabegovic, the overall winner who collected 28 points.

The UK TOTB Overall results require ALL CLASSES to be mixed and times/speeds over all different cars to be compared against each other, points allocated from 10 to 1 mixing ALL CLASSES.
Using this formula Zlatko Mulabegovic finished 14 in the handling, 15 in the top speed and 19 in the drag overall mixing ALL CLASSES. Points are awarded from 1st to tenth place.

We did however add points by INDIVIDUAL CLASSES in this first international event to find a TOTB Arabia car to go forward in future TOTB international events.

This was Zlatko Mulabegovic as stated in the previous post.

I hope this clears up any misunderstanding.

quick post, just got back!

an excellent (and eventful) first totb arabia event, big congrats to Alan and Andrea for organising a first for this type of event in the middle east. all the UK competitors had an excellent time from feedback given, we all had a great trip and a great set of competitors from the UK and the Emirates made it a superb and well received first event. ;-)

Alan has already posted the details on the events section for all the results for overall winners. we unfortunately lost the drag shootout finals only, as the track had to be closed after the marshal incident, but this happened on the end of qualifying at around 8pm after the handling , top speed and 1/4m were complete, so a full set of results were able to be sorted once the incident was cleared. Alan/Andrea and their staff worked superbly well in the event, and were able to publish and award trophies the same evening at the after-event party.

Many thanks also to the UK competitors who went out of their way to get cars sorted to make it such a memorable event. Abbey Motorsport Mark and Simon, Ron Kidell and Dareen Bly, Fensport- Adrian and tony, Tim Webster and last but not least Mick Begley are all stars!

A dvd was made of the event, and will be available soon via totb.co.uk .

All of the guys on the trip shot their own memorable footage/pics, and i'm sure some of them will be flying around on here shortly! :-)

cheers, but the hard work was down to andrea and alan in the main, we were then helped by all the gargages/owners with cars who assisted us to get them to the event and to compete.
the crowd and people in general seemed extremely responsive and interested in the UK cars, infact cheering and clapping them into staging on every run, and applauding them back into the padock afterward, really amazing reception and very friendly people throughout. the UK guys were swamped by interested people wanting to know more of the cars, and how they were built, many had not realised for instance the fensport car was 4wd and turbo'd.
the Sheik himself competed using 4 or 5 of his own fantastic cars, including a new GT40 , Ferrari, v8 corvette (big power), ariel atom, and i think the last of his brought along for the event was a supercharged Saleen which sounded fantastic. He certainly enjoys his motorsport and was apparently very pleased with how the event went.

some very funny incidents happened, ie some very nice guys from Kuwait driving all the way there to UAQ, to then spot Tim Webster and identify him as "Mr Skyline man", they had seen him on local TV (totb 3 and 4 footgage) in his numerous cars. :-)
Tim can now be affectionately called "mr fluffy", or "the sheik" as reqd!
