I agree with you koopa, the american engines are more and easier tuneable, but for what displacement (and fuel consumption).
If you read Car Magazine Issue 486 from february 2003 "More than 1000bhp is achievable." Tamura-San said.

I'm no purist by any means....and I realize they did this to appeal to the fact that the movie is to be noted as "filmed or lived" in Japan. But if it were real world and stateside.....I'd have gone for the Cobra engine swap too with a pair of Garretts or a S/C to keep that growl in her..just my two pence.

Hey I know this car..... its an RB26 with an RB25 transmission. Global West coil overs, subframe connectors, etc, under neath.

Ford 9" rear end.

It goes fairly decent. 60-1 turbo... boost at 11-12 psi and rev limiter at 7000 rpms.

RB26 may be a lighter block but the terminator V8 is far more tuneable. Forged internals as standard, 390 wheel horsepower on 91 octane stock. Simple bolt ons like exhaust, filters, x-pipe and blower pulley upgrade land you near 500rwhp. The stock block can handle 800hp on stock cams ,pistons, crank, headers and intake! www.svtperformance.com Some of the vids of these cars are just nuts
It's when you remove the s/c and fit turbo(s) that the fun really starts. Have a look at the "cartech" site.

This guy should have stuck with the theme and fitted a 427 cammer. 7.0 sohc V8, 750hp, yee-haa, squeal like a... oops sorry, I almost lost myself back there.
