Unhappy Which management system???

I own a 33 GTR V-Spec,i've modded it a bit with uprated turbo's,race pistons, hks head gasket and hks intakes etc. Ineed to know which kind of management system to have fitted, my mechanic has suggested a Motec system but at great expense. Can anyone suggest a not much cheaper but as good as substitute?

Go with a AEM EMS unit for a standalone OR an Apexi FC for a piggy back
Motecs are really for specialized drag/track teams, they are complex and expensive compared to others.

Power FC is not a piggy back, it replaces the standard ECU.

PFC is very good, I've got 1 on my car and I'm happy with it. If you want something a bit better you could go for an AEM or HKS Pro ConV which are similar money AFAIK. PFC will set you back about 1K fitted and mapped, the other options will be somewhere between 2-3 times that figure.

There's also the Haltech from Innovate Performance. Somewhere in the middle of the F-CON and PFC price-wise. From about £1600 fitted and mapped depending on what extras you want with it

There is also the Autronic

The ecu is only as good as the guy that maps it

Like Keith said.

The AEM / Motec / Autronic will give you more options if you want to map auxilliaries such as nos, water injection, run anti lag etc, but if not then a power fc will be all you need.

Proper mapping gives the performance / reliability- a motec map isn't faster than a pfc one!

Can anyone explain why the Haltech is never recommended on here? It's as feature-rich as a V-Pro (and maybe the AEM, although I'm not sure), and a damn sight cheaper.

I'm not involved in the sales/marketing of it at all, but I've just ordered one and wonder why it always gets overlooked?

Cheers,

Iain
