what you up to with the motor?
Carbon is quieter as it absorbs more of the vibrations much better, little lighter, can handle greater torque and when it does break it shears and doesn't damage the underside of the car. When an alloy one breaks it will make a mess.

Depends on the application but for normal use the alloy one is absolutely fine and is some 30% cheaper than carbon.

Just a couple of pics from tonight. Only spent about 2.5 hours on her taking things off and categorizing them so I will remember how it goes back together. So many hoses....
Cheers

Hot side removed and I also found out why it sounded like I had an exhaust leak

Never would of thought that ceramic turbos would of lived for 3 years running 16 psi all the time...guess they proved me wrong

Transported the motor to the shop that is going to be building it. After removing the dampner and the front cover and timing pieces, decided to remove the oil pan/diff. Wow, 22 years and just over 100,000 miles, she is nasty inside. Same situation with the valve covers. In to the parts scrubber they go for a nice hot bath. More to follow

Love this 33, in my top 3 all time favorite R33's. I've often looked at pics of this car for some inspiration of what to do with mine lol.

Been a couple of days since last post. Most of the aluminum pieces have gone to be vapor blasted and the front subframe is going to be blasted and then powder coated.

Motor is 100% torn down and sent to get a nice hot bath. Pistons and rings were in great condition as were the bearings, upper and lower. Head is also torn down and headed for a hot bath. Now back to working on the suspension and engine bay
