Maybe i used som old exchange rate but i got £19,5k for 4M yen. Deregistration costs im not sure of but i have seen figures between £75-150. I have calculated freight costs between £1 and 1,5k. Insurance about £150. (Were at about 21k now). That gives a price landed and taxed about £26,5-27,5k (depending on freight costs). I may have missed some costs but i do not think it is any big ones.
But then again, this is just in theory. From what i know no one has found a way to get them registered. When someone does on the other hand, the market will change very fast.
And again, im gladly corrected (i want to learn). Not dreaming, only speculating.
->NikWolson: I agree, that was not a good offer. The cars im takling about is standard (or at leas near standard) ones with normal miles.
I still think for a standard R34 GTR (v-spec or not) that £25,000.00 would only buy a dog in the Uk that has not been looked after.
If you take it that the car has been looked after and in A1 condition, the the price I think would be fair would be:
Standard, no mods, FSH £29,000.00
Stage 1 mods to 350-400bhp £32,000.00
Sage 1 + mods to say 400-500bhp £35,000.00
Stage 2 mods to say 500bhp £38,000.00
500+ bhp £40,000.00 plus

I think you are about right. These cars are a bit special since it is possible to get a lot of the money laid down on tuning back when you sell. If the registration problem is not solved then prices will keep rising. If solved i belive that you could shave off another 2-3k on the standard car, still i great condition.

How are you going to get it through registration in the UK, best estimate is 3k +vat for the tests + £500 for incidentals driving it around the place, getting the lights to pass etc.
I estimate 31K to 32K as a true cost for a 4 million yen vehicle at auction in Japan.

My calculation is not made out of existing conditions (based on someone finding a good solution to the registration problem), £3,5k is silly money to get it registered. What do you have to pay for a standard model report? £500?
As said before, WHEN someone finds a way to get a model report on the market it will not cost more than any other car because of the demand. But until then we will have prices in the uk about todays level.
Know what you mean, but since the market is as it is, prices for good examples with mods from reputed tuners tend to rise quite a bit. Sellers market all together.
Autocar did a feature on sub-£25k supercars and found a '99 R34 GTR with 60k miles for £26k. Not sure of any detail on that but with 60,000 miles you'd be best looking at a lower mileage R33 from Japan.
I think the reason they've made importing impossible is due to the sale of the UK cars. How would current owners feel if they lost £10k off residuals overnight?
