Covered up Power steering reservoir

I have been seeing the above for quite a while now.

Basically covered up power steering reservoirs; what is the score with this?

The only thing i can assume is that its to protect it from the heat generated by the turbos/exhaust?

Also the R33 has a metal reservoir, whereas the R34 has a plastic. any logic to this? Again i guess the metal will absorb more heat hence the move to plastic on the later models?

It's just that i've seen on Japanese website, someone switch to a metal reservoir on a R34, so was wondering the logic behind it.

I got plastic on my R33 GTSt, im going to move it further into the wing to make way for some intercooler piping, I cant see as there is any advantage either way for metal or plastic, its going to get warm anyways.

Its prolly a good idea to shield everything from the turbos anyways

I got a metal one on the 300 I can use if it turns out they are better.

Mark.
