Get alex to sort you a wash mitt, paint cleanser, carnuba wax and some microfibre cloths. The cloths can be used to remove the wax and to dry the car.
The kit alex put together for me was great ![]()

To use the paint cleanser it is applied on a damp sponge. With some elbow grease, the flame residue comes off. How bad do you think my back bumper is
I use this : clicky

Yes, the trade name for Super Resin Polish but, it's exactly that, a polish. A very mild one but, it's still abrasive and doesn't really give that much protection to the paint (not that it's a bad product).
Jim.... For protecting and giving a good shine on white I'd personally go for a sealant, something like Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection. One of the easiest products to use, and gives a fantastic slick finish and a very glossy shine. If you want to stick to a wax based product then go for Poorboy's Natty's Blue Wax. It gives a very clear wet look even on white which is always tricky to get good depth from but, is still very easy to use. Cloths wise, Aquatouch are the brand cloths we stock, and are excellent quality. For a Skyline size car, one large cloth or two smaller ones should suffice. We also do our own brand which are still bodywork safe but, more on the budget side cost wise. Drop me a pm if it all sounds okay, or if you have any other questions, and I'll get back to you with a price straight away .Cheers.

I'm a proffessional valet specialising in Porsches - particularly the GT3 rs (white) - now I know that these threads can go on forever bloviating about this wax or another but the truth is if you really want the best out of your car you either need to hire someone for the day or spend a good weekend using Lehm clay a good cleaner wax and then some high content carnauba wax minimum over 55% carnauba.. cloth wise only use Microfibre - the key to no swirl marks/scratches and an excellent finish is patience and finesse.
Good Luck |

Why Lehm clay in particular? and why such a high content carnauba wax? The higher the carnauba content effectively the harder the wax gets and therefore the more solvent is needed in the mix to break it down and make it workable......
Surely using some sort of glaze and then a good carnauba wax will do more for the finish than a cleaner wax and then another wax..... You'll get more swirl hiding ability that way, as although the clay will remove alot of contaminants from the paint, it won't help remove any scratches or swirls. The oils in a glaze and the carnauba wax will mask a proportion of the imperfections..... Short of that using a good diminishing swirl remover to gradually get rid of the swirls, or even as many enthusiasts do now, buy a Porter Cable polisher and spend a few hours at swirl removal themselves... A bit extreme cost wise but theres alot of people buying them, and they are so much safer than an orbital polisher. Anyway, not having a go, just interested in your thoughts and opinions.

Someone told me the other day that the glossier the wax, the less protection it offers against the sun. Conversely if you want UV protection, go for a less shiny finish.
This may or may not be true, and it is almost certainly irrelevant for the UK, but I am offering this to see if anyone can shed any light on the idea. ![]() (I was actually asking about how to protect my red paint job. Red tends to fade and discolour faster than any other colour of paintwork in the fierce Japanese summer sun. Eg red Mitsi GTOs. Oh, and even more off-topic, the bloke did say that of Japanese car makers, Toyota red tends to keep its colour the longest.)

If the red's fading then go for a sealant (synthetic wax) as opposed to a carnauba based wax. A sealant will generally offer better protection from both the elements and UV etc. You might not get quite the glossy or wet finish of a wax but, alot of people will use a sealant for protection, then use their wax on top.... Best of both worlds.
What you say about more glossy a wax the less protection in a very round about sort of way can be true but, I wouldn't use it as a rule of thumb. Cheers.

No, Alex, it's not fading, but I just bought a 2nd-hand car for the wife in a nice bright red, and was looking for tips on keeping it that way as the summer is approaching and it won't be allowed garage space! Thanks for the advice!
